Modern Slavery Statement
Cleaner Chelsea Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Cleaner Chelsea in respect of its operations and supply chains. It sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation within our business and among our suppliers.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Approach
Cleaner Chelsea has a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business dealings and relationships. We expect the same high standards from all parties we work with, regardless of size, location, or sector.
We recognise that the cleaning and facilities services sector can be exposed to exploitation risks, particularly in relation to migrant workers, temporary staff, and subcontracted labour. We therefore actively work to identify, prevent, and address these risks.
Governance and Responsibilities
The leadership of Cleaner Chelsea is responsible for overseeing the effectiveness of our approach to modern slavery. Management is accountable for implementing policies, training relevant team members, and ensuring that our zero-tolerance stance is understood across the organisation.
Managers responsible for procurement and supplier relationships must ensure that modern slavery considerations are built into supplier selection, contracting, and ongoing performance management.
Our Policies and Standards
Cleaner Chelsea maintains policies that support the prevention of modern slavery, including commitments to fair recruitment, equal opportunities, and safe working conditions. We only employ individuals who have the legal right to work and we verify documentation prior to engagement.
We do not tolerate any form of forced, bonded, or compulsory labour. Workers must be free to leave employment after giving reasonable notice and must not be required to surrender identity documents, deposits, or other security.
Supply Chain Due Diligence and Supplier Audits
Our supply chain includes providers of cleaning materials, equipment, uniforms, and labour-related services. We aim to work only with suppliers who share our commitment to ethical conduct and respect for human rights.
Cleaner Chelsea conducts risk-based due diligence on suppliers, taking into account geography, the nature of the goods or services, and the use of subcontracted or temporary labour. Where higher risk is identified, we may request additional information on labour practices, recruitment processes, and worker protections.
We reserve the right to carry out audits of suppliers. These may include document reviews, site visits, and interviews with management and, where appropriate, workers. If concerns are identified, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within specified timeframes. Persistent failure to meet our expectations may result in the termination of the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Cleaner Chelsea encourages staff, contractors, and other stakeholders to raise concerns if they suspect any form of modern slavery or unethical working practice in our operations or supply chain.
Concerns can be reported through internal reporting lines, including to line managers or senior management. We are committed to ensuring that individuals who raise concerns in good faith do so without fear of retaliation, victimisation, or disadvantage.
All reports will be taken seriously and investigated promptly. Where appropriate, we will involve relevant authorities and cooperate fully with any external investigations.
Training and Awareness
We are working to improve awareness of modern slavery risks among our employees, particularly those involved in recruitment, procurement, and supplier management. Training and guidance will be provided to help staff recognise indicators of exploitation and understand how to escalate concerns appropriately.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Cleaner Chelsea recognises that combating modern slavery is an ongoing process. We are committed to continually improving our policies, procedures, and due diligence activities in light of emerging risks, regulatory developments, and best practice.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually by senior management. The review will consider the effectiveness of our actions, any incidents or concerns raised, and opportunities for further strengthening our approach. Updated versions of this statement will reflect changes in our business, supply chain, and risk profile.
This statement reflects Cleaner Chelsea's position and commitment to preventing modern slavery in the financial year covered and going forward.
